Agenda Item #1:                     80th Celebration

Jane Wiechmann, SAC Chairperson, talked to the S.A.C. committee about our 80th Birthday Celebration plans.  The Committee (Roy Sprinkle, Jackie Hester, Regina Gordon, David Jennings, Cynthia Day, Larren Park, Susan Wilhelm, and Jane Wiechmann) have been meeting to finalize plans.  They would like to provide cake, cookies, snow cones, pictures, invitations, and name tags for the celebration and they are asking S.A.C. to approve giving them between $750.00 and $1,000.00.  Invitations to Bay Haven alumni will tell participants to bring a picnic lunch for the celebration.  The 80th Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, from 12:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Consensus was reached to provide the money.

Agenda Item #2:                     Grounds Update

Mr. Sprinkle informed the S.A.C. committee of possible grounds updates that hopefully will occur in the not so distant future.  The Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Long-Range Planner met with Mr. Sprinkle last week to go over building plans.  They all agreed that we need a new Cafeteria.  They suggested that when the old Cafeteria is replaced that we should also replace our Media Center (because if they redo the Cafeteria without doing the Media Center there would be no way to ever replace it).  They talked about maybe doing a two-story Cafeteria with a Media Center on the top floor.  The team also discussed extending Building #7 to replace our 6 portables.  Bay Haven’s parking problem was also discussed.

Agenda Item #3:                     Technology

Active Boards:  12 teachers will be getting Active Boards for their classrooms.  An Active Boards is a  teaching tool that is connected to a lap top, VCR, and DVD.   It works as a computer display and you can write with it.  Each Active Board costs approximately $4,000.00.  Our Fourth and Fifth grade classrooms will each be getting one.  Kindergarten, First, Second and Third grades will get one per grade level.  A follow-up of 50% more Active Baords will take place in May or June.  At the end of Summer or beginning of next school year, the rest of our classrooms will receive an Active Board.
