1)       WELCOME/GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS                     S. Whitesides

                                                                                                W. Muth

Mrs. Whitesides called the meeting to order at 3:35. Mr. Muth

explained the Code White situation that was called today.

Detective Lynn Brown called the office to ask that we

lock down as there was a report of a person with a knife in a

neighborhood near the school.  Evidently, there had been a

domestic dispute.  The Sheriff’s Department also called to

inform us of the situation.  The person of interest was

apprehended quickly by the Sheriff’s dept.

Mr. Muth and Ms. Boyd quickly walked the campus, and

there were no children or staff observed outside.  The partial

lockdown means teachers continue to teach, but all doors

are locked and no one is to be outside.  Mr. Muth and Ms.

Boyd were very pleased with the quick response of our staff

and our students.  Everyone took the Code White seriously,

and performed their duties in a professional manner.

2)       APPROVAL OF MINUTES 9/5/07                                   S. Whitesides

There were no corrections or addition to the minutes.  Mrs. Phillips

made a motion to approve, and Mrs. Susan Brown seconded.

          The minutes were approved.

3)       2007-2008 SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN                    W. Muth

The school improvement plan is submitted every year at this

time.  After draft is complete, a copy will be given to the SAC for

approval.  After looking at the test score results, as well as AYP, we

will be listing our goals for this year.  A subcategory to add this year,

will be working with our Hispanic students to try to increase their gains.

There will be much more emphasis this year with our entire staff to

understand our goals for this year.  We will also strive to maintain

or better our science scores, as well as increasing our writing scores.

4)       FACILITIES UPDATE                                                      W. Muth

Storm damage to our telephone and cable systems

is being completed.  Our TV telecasts are back up, and most

telephones are working.  The damage to portable 10 has been fixed.

A bus hit a concrete piling in the parking lot, and it will be

replaced.  Laura Steber was concerned about the odor in the

Kindergarten wing bathrooms.  Mr. Muth will check with Ruby

to see if there is something that can be done.

5)       COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT                                  W. Muth

To become a 5-Star school, we need a community service

project.  Please think about what we might like to do, and

maybe we can get started earlier.  Mrs. Ortlieb’s stepson did

receive his boxes and was very appreciative.  Mr. Muth would

like to focus on a child oriented service if possible.  Mr. Muth

would like to have the project selected before winter break.

5)       PTO UPDATE                                                                  PTO Rep

PTO is moving forward with the carnival.  It will be held

From 5:00-8:30 on October 26th.   Team leaders should have

information.  Entertainment book sale is over and made

approximately $4800 profit.  The sale went over projection. Gift

wrap/magazine sales will start September 28th. Ms. Zebkar wanted

to know if top selling students of entertainment books were getting

a prize.  Mrs. Brown said there were leveled prizes.  Mr. Muth stated

that he had been approached regarding some concerns about

the carnival.   There will be a graduated shutdown of booths during

the carnival before it gets too dark.  Mrs. Morrow was wondering

if there are things available for use.  How is adopt-a-class going?

About 20% of classes have been adopted. Maybe send a reminder

home listing what classes are available for adoption. Mr. Muth received

a letter from a parent because their check was sent back.  Mrs. Quale said

it was a fabulous idea, but maybe there could be some mini adoption

choices.  Mr. Muth wanted to let everyone know that Mike Robustelli has

offered his limo for an award incentive.  Outback Night is December 6th.

6)       OTHER                                                                           All

Mrs. Quale brought up the question about an e-mail newsletter.

She heard someone talking about preferring an e-mail rather

than a paper item newsletter. Would something like that be

possible?  Ms. Boyd suggested that it could be put on the website.

It could help          cut back on paper as well as families who receive

more than one copy. Mr.Muth wanted once again to thank staff

          for the fine opening of school, today’s Code White professionalism;

and to thank the parents as well for this wonderful school.

Mrs. Whitesides adjourned the meeting at 4:15 pm.
