1)   GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS                         W. Muth

·       Motion to approve the September 18th and          S. Whitesides

October 17th  meeting minutes by Susan Brown

and second by Steve Bockler.

 

 

2)   SCHOOLWIDE CIVIC PROJECT                              W. Muth

·       Members agreed by consensus on                         S. Whitesides

Adopt-A-Soldier (Unit) as the Schoolwide                ALL

Civic Project      

·       Ashton Ambassadors will act as project

leaders

o      Distribute fliers

o      Collect care packages from classes

o      $1 drive for postage fees

·       Would like to adopt a unit that has roots in Sarasota

o      Students can collect for care packages

o      Write letters to soldiers

o      Art-make cards

o      Technology-send messages

o      Have guest speakers in classrooms about the

armed services, etc.

o      Set up Ashton bulletin board of friends and family members

who are in services now

3)   S.A.C. MEMBERSHIP                                         W. Muth

·       Members will recruit for next meeting                     S. Whitesides

 

4)   OTHER

Ø      Safety                                                                      ALL

·        Safety of walkers at back loop parent pick up area

o       Students should utilize sidewalks

o       Students cross in front of traffic on way

o      to Elizabeth

o       Would like sidewalk installed for safety and

o       continuity for student walkers

·        Need sidewalk on front of campus, East side of Square Parking lot, from Ashton Road to school-school board property

·        Proctor Road does not have sidewalks, and has a deep ditch on outer banks-county property

·        Overgrowth blocking vision onto Proctor from Elizabeth/Victoria-county property

·        Courtesy bus transportation may be available for Proctor area students if space is available.  Parents must complete appropriate paperwork to request this type of transportation.  Several areas in this area are hazardous for children.

Ø    Security

·       Unauthorized persons on campus

o      Approach persons calmly, inquire how can we help them, radio or inform front office/admin/sro

o      Raptor procedures updated by Larry Leon, Security

Ø    PTO Fundraisers

o      Gift wrap – brought in over what was anticipated

o      Cookie Dough – brought in $6,000 over by $1,000

o      Auctioned Teacher Adventures-monies go back to   classrooms

§       Could businesses underwrite adventures so money is not paid out by teachers

§       PTO Carnival Fundraiser back next year?

o      Thank you Mrs. Broussard for donated deserts on Outback Night, more than doubled money – proceeds are for Sea Camp
