Dear Parents,
We are happy to have your child in Kindergarten and hope the following information will be helpful to you as we begin this wonderful year!
School Hours:
Children begin entering the classroom at 8:20. School begins promptly at 8:30. Any child entering after 8:30 must first go to the office to obtain a tardy pass. The students are dismissed at 3:15.
School Supplies:
Although many supplies are provided to the children, we ask that parents refer to the detailed suggest supply list that is available on the kindergarten web site.
Breakfast and Lunch:
Breakfast (optional) costs $ .75 with the reduced rate of $ .30. The lunch cost is $2.00 with the reduced rate of $ .40. Milk only is $ .50. To save time and effort, you may choose to send in lunch payment for a week or longer. Money can be sent in an envelope clearly marked with your child's full name, P.I.N., and the teacher's name. Checks may be made payable to Garden Food Service.
Belongings:
The school dress code is provided in the Parent-Student Handbook, as well as a list of items not permitted at school. And, we ask that all personal items be marked with your child's name.
Rest Time:
During the early part of the year, the children take a brief rest each day. A small rest towel is all that is necessary for this. The teacher may occasionally send this towel home to be laundered and then you may return it to school.
Homework/School Work Policy:
Your child's daily work will be sent home in the folder for your review. We encourage you to look over these papers and remove them unless there is a request to return them. Appropriate homework for the early part of the year includes a review of the papers and parents reading daily to the children. Later on in the year the teacher may assign specific homework, but you will be informed of this.
Kindergarten Communication Sheet:
So that you are aware of your child's behavior, a weekly communication sheet will be sent home every Monday. You are asked to initial it every day and return it in the folder. This enables us to communicate daily. Please return the sheet from the previous week each Monday, and a new sheet will be issued.
Snacks/Wipes:
We will have morning snack each day. You are asked to send in one snack per month that will be shared with the entire class. Favorites include Goldfish, Cheez-Its, or crackers...ones that can be distributed quickly. Please send in one package of wet wipes per month. These are used to cleanse hands just before lunch.
Birthdays:
Your child may wish to celebrate a birthday at school. Please notify your child's teacher prior to the day if you will be sending in a special birthday treat. We suggest cupcakes, cookies, brownies...treats easily served. You are asked NOT to send in whole cakes or punch. Birthday treats can be dropped off in the office before school so that they can be served in lieu of the morning snack.
Dismissal/Absence Policy:
A written note must be sent in to the teacher prior to any change in your child's dismissal routine, i.e. early pickup, alternate transportation, or a different destination. Your child will only be dismissed to you or to those persons you authorized on registration forms.
Thank you very much for reading this information. If you have further questions you may telephone the office at 486-2110. We will gladly answer your inquiries.
Sincerely,
The Kindergarten Teachers |
