VMS/OPS Summer Reading 2008

The most important thing about summer reading is that you READ! It does not matter if you read books, magazines, websites, or brochures! Just find something that interests you and read!!

With that in mind, we have compiled a chart of choices for you to fulfill your summer reading requirement. You can "click" on one of the choices for more detailed information.

Please complete enough activities to earn 10 points.

Please note that this site is under construction and some of the links aren't ready yet. But there is enough here to certainly get started!

Chart of Choices:

Submit a book review on our school's Blog. Be sure to include all of the aspects of a book review. 3 points each		Give a thoughtful reply to someone else's Blog after you've read the book. Make sure your reply indicates you read the book! 2 points each		Take part in the teen book club at the library on these dates:   2 points per meeting
	Attend a program at the Jacaranda Public Library. Click here for dates and times. 2 points each		Read a magazine article and complete one of the graphic organizers 1 point each
Read a school appropriate "Graphic Novel" and complete one of the graphic organizers or write a review for the blog or email it to VMSreads@ yahoo.com 2 points each		Read an on-line magazine and email the critique to VMSreads@yahoo. com 1 point each		Complete the Planet Teen Website scavenger hunt 1 point
	Volunteer at the library for at least 8 hours. Have your hours signed off by the librarian 3 points total		Go to your favorite author's website and complete the 3-2-1 organizer 1 point each
Email a book review to VMSreads@ yahoo.com 2 points each		Do one of the literacy activities at the website linked here. Email a copy or a detailed description of what you did to VMSread@yahoo. com 2 points each		Keep a weekly blog about your summer reading and send your blog address to VMSread@ yahoo.com 1 point for each week you blogged about your summer reading.
