Payment for school meals can be made by cash or check. All payments
should be placed in a sealed envelope and marked with the student’s
name, PIN number and teacher’s name. Checks should also be marked with
the student’s name and PIN number. Payments should be turned in to the
teacher. Students are not permitted to bring money to the cafeteria.
Arrival and Dismissal
We
value the safety of our students and staff, and therefore, access to the
building is monitored. Students should arrive on campus no earlier than
8:15. All students who arrive earlier than 8:15 will be directed to the
Before School Care program, and a fee will be charged. Once students
arrive, they are to travel directly to the appropriate area. Parents and
guardians will not be permitted to walk students to classrooms.
Any
student who arrives at school after 8:30 or departs before 3:15 is
tardy. Tardies will be reflected in loss of work habit points.
Early dismissals affect instruction and are discouraged. In the event an
early dismissal is planned, a note must be sent to the office in care of
the homeroom teacher. To protect valuable instruction time, early
dismissals will be permitted after 2:30 only with proof of a doctor’s
appointment or for a family emergency. Daily early dismissals will not
be permitted. When students are to be released from school earlier than
dismissal, they will be dismissed from the office only.
Before students leave home each morning they should know how they will
be going home that afternoon. The office must be notified in writing on
mornings when dismissal or after care arrangements are to change. Unless
it is an emergency, please do not call the office to change afternoon
dismissal or after school arrangements.
Students should not be on campus after 3:30 unless enrolled in the After
School Care program or a school sponsored activity.
DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
The
rear entrance is only for buses and staff parking, so please use the
front entrance when visiting or parking. We ask that all motorists drive
with extreme caution and remain in their cars; and we strongly
discourage students and family members from walking through the parking
lot during dismissal.
Car
riders are to be met in the “Parent Pick-up” area located in the front
of the school. Parents and guardians should remain in their cars,
display the student card in the right dashboard and pull into the line
in an orderly fashion. Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria and
will wait at a designated flag.
Walkers and bike riders are dismissed from the west side of the front of
the building. Parents may wait for students under the covered area.
After Care students meet in the media center and are dismissed from the
cafeteria.
Bus
riders are escorted to the buses by their teachers. Students may not
ride any bus other than the one they are assigned.
Visiting Campus
All
visitors must report to the school office, show photo identification at
each visit, and sign the visitor’s log. Please secure a visitor badge,
wear it in a visible spot, and return the badge to the office and sign
out when your visit is complete.
If
you are joining your child for lunch, we have a special family table for
you and your child to enjoy lunch together.
Remember, if your name does not appear on our school records, you will
not have access to the student for any reason.
Uniform Policy
Uniform Policy
School uniforms are mandatory. Uniform shirts (with or without
the school logo) are
collared polo-style shirts in the solid colors of navy, gold, white,
hunter green and maroon. Uniform shirts do not include stripes, designs
or product emblems.

skorts, skirts, and jumpers in navy or khaki. Uniform bottoms do not

zippers, multiple pockets, stripes or emblems.
Please
remember, that any outer-ware that is worn indoors must adhere to our
school uniform policy and colors.
Sweaters, zippered or sweatshirt jackets must be solid navy, maroon,

shirts, students may also wear matching turtle necks under short
sleeve shirts. For example, a navy turtleneck with a navy short sleeve
collared polo is permitted; a navy turtleneck with a gold short sleeve
collared polo is not permitted.
At all times, shoes must be closed-toed athletic or dress shoes.
Sandals, flip flops, heels, and exposed wheelie shoes are not permitted.
Only
solid colored socks are to be worn with uniforms.
Belts are optional and should be solid colors.
School Spirit Days are every Friday - school spirit shirts with
uniform pants, jeans, shorts, capris, skirts, skorts, or jumpers are
permitted.
Free Days will be announced by administration
(including picture days).
Treats for the classroom
According to School Board policy only commercially prepared and packaged
food should be brought to school for classroom parties, etc. The School
Board of Sarasota County has entered into a contractual agreement with
Coca-Cola Bottling Company. All beverages served at school functions
must be Coca-Cola products.
Questions or Concerns
If you have questions or
concerns please contact your child's teacher first. Unresolved
issues should then be addressed to the Guidance Department.
Conferences
It is imperative that families, faculty and staff communicate throughout
the school year. Families can expect to be contacted by teachers and
staff either by letter, progress report, or phone to discuss student
progress and accomplishments. Mutually convenient meetings will be
scheduled when families prefer to meet personally with faculty and/or
staff members. Requests for meetings should be made in writing.
