8th Grade Stepping Forth Ceremony It's that time of year again, when our 8th Grade Class is stepping forth into high school. To celebrate this event we are having a Stepping Forth Ceremony for them. Because of the large size of the 8th Grade Class, the ceremony will be held at North Port High School Auditorium in two parts one in the morning and the other one in the afternoon. So come join us in saying goodbye to them.

A Minute with Mr. Steve Smith, Asst Principal I can not believe that we are in the last semester of the 2007-2008 school year. This year has been fantastic. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the seventh grade this year. I am extremely lucky to have the hard working dedicated teachers that I work with on a daily basis. I think that my first year as an Assistant Principal at Heron Creek has been successful due to the team work and collaboration that the teachers, staff and administration have shown. I am looking forward to summer and being able to spend more time with my children Alyssa, Carly and Drew. I can only hope that next year is as smooth and successful as this school year has been.

 Thanks, Steve Smith

St. Judes Hospital April 9th begins our kick off for our 1st annual Math-A-Thon.  This event will raise money for St. Jude’s Hospital.  Each student will receive a booklet to start collecting pledges if they wish to participate.  Students will have one week to complete as many math problems in their Fun Books as possible. Students will then collect donations based on how many problems they finished.  All proceeds will be sent to St. Jude’s
Children’s Hospital.  We encourage you and your children to participate but it is not mandatory.  St. Jude’s helps children who have cancer and other life threatening diseases.  Thank you for your support and help to make our 1st Math-A-Thon a success!

North Port PD's K9 Unit will be on site The North Port Police Department drug sniffing dogs will be visiting HCMS throughout the 2007-2008 school year on a regular basis as we ensure a safe and orderly environment for our students and staff. These highly trained canines will randomly visit classrooms and common areas to help promote drug awareness and the prevention of illegal drugs on campus.
