Booker
Middle School Intramural
Program
Booker Middle School
Intramural Program is designed to offer
students who might not other wise have the
opportunity, the knowledge or skill base
to participate in interscholastic
athletics. The purpose of the program is
to foster confidence in students by giving
them the skills to participate in team
activities.
Intramurals will be
based on a nine to twelve week rotation of
team sports.
Students will learn the
rules, terminology, skills and strategy of
the games before
Game competition is
allowed. Of course sportsmanship will
always be at the forefront of any
activity.
Intramurals will be
offered based on student interest and
availability of qualified instructor. We
will give our sixth and seventh grade
priority to intramural based on the fact
that six-graders are not allowed to
participate in interscholastic sports and
some seventh graders may not have the
skill set to play interscholastic
sports.
Intramurals will be
offered four days a week; Mondays and
Wednesdays for girls and Tuesdays and
Thursdays for boys running concurrently
with our after school program from 2:15-
5:00pm.
Students participating
in intramurals must have completed the
proper paperwork, which includes a
notarized copy of the hold harmless
agreement. It is preferred that your
students would have had a physical within
one year of participation date for
intramural.
Students participating
in the intramural program will be
automatically enrolled as part of the
after school program and must adhere to
the rules of the after school program.
A student may be
removed from the program for failure to
follow after school rules.
It is the parent's
responsibility to provide transportation,
however, transportation may be provided by
the school on a limited basis. Students
must be picked up from school within 30
minutes after dismissal of program. If
students are habitually picked up late
they may be removed from intramurals, in
addition a student may be removed from the
after school program.
Students will
demonstrate their maturation in their
particular sport with and end of activity
game and celebration. Students will be
awarded a certificate of participation and
a medal for most improved or outstanding
student.
