Welcome to the Visual & Performing Arts Center
Booker High School is home to the Sarasota Visual &
Performing Arts Center, where the Visual & Performing
Arts (VPA) program provides highly specialized and intensive
training for students who possess special talents in the
visual and performing arts areas of dance, music, television
and media arts, theater (performance and technical), and
visual arts.
The experiences and training provided at the VPA Center
are designed to prepare the serious student of the arts
for future study. After completing our program, 95% of these
students are the recipients of scholarships, enabling them
to continue their education in a college, university, conservatory,
or professional school.
The VPA is a countywide magnet program. Qualified applicants
may be accepted from other counties on a space-available
basis and with approval from the sending district. Transportation
is provided within Sarasota County by the Sarasota County
School Board.
